ComputerWebstore—avoid them!

Just thought I’d share my experiences from trying to buy an MP3 player from a crappy, online store called ComputerWebstore.

I’ll start with the shopping experience, in chronological order this is what happened:

  1. I placed an order on August 4 for a nice little MP3 player. I got an email confirming my order almost immediately. They estimated I’d have the player in 3-10 days.
  2. On August 8 they charged my credit card.
  3. Between August 8 and August 17 I went back a few times to their web pages to see what was happening. There seemed to be no progress with the order whatsoever. I did notice however that their web site didn’t work properly with Mozilla Firefox. It’s even mentioned that the browser you should use as a customer is IE. Yuck!!
  4. On August 17 I was fed up with waiting and wanted to cancel the order. Since the item still wasn’t shipped I thought there’d be no problem doing that. Except of course that their web site doesn’t allow cancelling orders. I found no telephone number, only a couple of email addresses and a promise to respond to emails within 24 hours. I sent an email requesting that my order be cancelled. I also did some digging and found out that the address to ComputerWebstore is actually a mail box rented from MBE Liverpool (they even replied to my email and confirmed that this was the case).
  5. 24 hours after the first email I still had no response, so I sent a second email reiterating my whish to cancel the order.
  6. On August 20 I had given up on ComputerWebstore and called ConsumerDirect to see what help they could offer. Quite impressive really that they are open on a Saturday! They sent me some template letters to send to the company.
  7. On August 22 I received an email from ComtpureWebstore, not as an answer to any of my previous emails, but they were saying that the model of MP3 player I had ordered was no longer available. They hadn’t even read my previous mails since they asked whether I’d like to order another model. Yeah, right, like I was going to do that! I replied asking them to cancel my order, again.
  8. The day after I received a letter saying that my order would be cancelled, and that I would be refunded.
  9. On August 24 the order was actually cancelled.
  10. On August 30 I got tired of waiting for the money and sent them another email asking why it took them 4 days to charge me and more than a week to refund me.
  11. On September 2 my credit card was credited with the full amount.

I’ll never order anything from ComputerWebStore again. Arguably they didn’t behave really bad, but their behaviour is not the kind that should be supported by keeping them in business. Anyway I did learn a few things from this:

  • Don’t order stuff from a web store without researching a bit first. I quick search on Google gives a link to reviews of ComputerWebstore on PriceRunner.
  • Don’t order stuff from a web store that don’t give out proper contact information. The lack of phone number and the fact that the address is a rented mail box is a bit dodgy.
  • ConsumerDirect is a good resource to have! Thank you DTI for providing it!

Re the comment left re Computerwebstore. Our experiences are pretty much the same except in our case we still haven’t got our money back and if you read the reviews on Pricerunner, it would appear that other people are in the same situation. Our encounter with the company was 5 months after yours. Why is it that if ConsumerDirect have been contacted (we have done the same as others must have done), this company is still being allowed to trade on the net. 123-reg is hosting the site. Surely, they must have a responsibility too. I have contacted them as well but am still awaiting a response.

  2. Magnus:

Sad to hear they are still around. Just to clarify, I did contact ConsumerDirect and they sent me forms to make a more formal complaint. However, I never filed the complaint. Since they did me right in the end I don’t think I have a good case for complaining but if you do I’d recommend you go ahead and contact ConsumerDirect.

  3. Gordon:

Approaching 6 months later, I’m still in dispute with this company over sending me completely different products to the one advertised. After numerous broken promises, and Trading Standards I’m still waiting for a refund!

The level of service is quite disgusting.

  4. Doog:

Placed an order for a product that, according to their website, would be dispatched within 3 days.

After 2 weeks I still hadn’t received the item, or any update on its status, so I sent them an email of which I had a reply the following day (full of spelling mistakes, lack of punctuation and any grammatical sense) informing me that stock would be expected within the next week or so.

Forward another 2 weeks, I’m getting pretty annoyed now. It said delivery was within 3 days, its been a month at this point, so I decide to cancel my order, after a further week of no response I send a second email requesting my order be cancelled and my money refunded (that I was charged shortly after placing my order almost 6 weeks ago).

As it stands, after currently 6 weeks after placing, and paying for my order, I am both productless and moneyless. I will now be sending an email daily to them until I get a response.

If the review here is not convincing enough, search Google for computerwebstore, you’ll find a number of other unhappy people!

  5. Magnus:

Given that this is the most commented on entry in my blog I’m starting to wonder if ComputerWebStore has ever satisfied a single customer :-)

  6. David:

Not a good company - doesn’t deliver the goods, doesn’t respond to emails and I have not had a refund yet

  7. Ian:

I too am having trouble getting a replacement item delivered after they sent me the wrong item. It’s been 6 weeks now!

    AVOID!

  8. szlwzl:

I have had similar experiences with them and am on the phone to consumer direct at the moment - wish I’d investigated them and found this blog before buying from them!!!

  9. Muhib:

F**ked up company. took £432.00 and wont give it back. its been 7weeks.

    W***ERS

  10. 145:

If only I found this website first! Ordered from them and was told that my order was being processed. I was forced to wait two weeks before being told my item had been dispatched. Im still waiting for it to arrive…

[...] My blog can by no stretch of the imagination be called popular. Just looking at the number of comments will tell you that. Given that I can’t help but be amazed that my most popular post is my rant against ComputerWebstore. With 10 comments it has a comfortable lead. [...]

  12. John:

The minute I paid them, I was sceptical…so I googled the name and found all these reviews.

I rang them up and they said my item has been despatched and I will recieve it tomorrow.

That will be the moment of truth…if I dont recieve it. I am going to go mad at the cunts, they even had the cheek to say ‘we cant provide tracking info until it has been delivered’

now why the fuck would anyone need the tracking info when the item has been delivered FFS.

that pissed me right off and I sent them another threatening email demanding a refund (which I will get otherwise I will find these bastards through the bank)

So, ill let you all know if the item comes tomorrow!

  13. Magnus:

    John,

Next time, search first, then pay ;-)

I’ve noticed this about tracking before, it’s clearly not for me. It’s for the sender to be able to show that the goods were delivered. Compared to UPS/DHL tracking info it’s utterly useless for the receiver.

Oh, and given your language above I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end when you don’t receive your item in time…

  14. John:

    Well well well….

ITS COME, I am really shocked.

Delivered in 4 days, not bad.

Maybe they have sorted their act out?

  15. yongy:

Shut up , your probably the guy in charge of the website

  16. Gareth:

I ordered 2x 512mb ram sticks on the 2nd of November, estimated delivery of 3-10 days. It had not arrived after a week so just to find it when it would arrive I sent them an e-mail asking, 2 days later I received a reply saying that it would arrive on the 8th or the 9th. On the 10th (last week friday) it still had not arrived. So I sent another e-mail asking where my order was, I still have not received a reply.

Has anyone been able to contact them via phone? If yes can anyone tell me what their number is? My e-mail is wakethesilence@gmail.com, also do they deliver via royal mail or private company?

  17. Warren:

Finally got my cash back after threateneing to shop them to the police and the Trading standards and paying them a visit in person. Their details are :

Latest victim of Computerwebstore’s on-line incompetance? Yeah thats me.
I ordered an MP3 player - a pre-christmas birthday present so obviously delivering on time was essential. The item didn’t arrive, I offered to pay extra postage to speed things up, they said the item wasn’t in stock. I said if they couldnt deliver by X-date then I wanted a refund, they just said they wouldn’t have it until after new year, no acknowledgement of my request for a refund. I emailed twice more requesting a refund, they didn’t reply. I emailed again stating that I had reported them to the Debit Services dept at my bank, who would investigate them for internet fraud under their Goods Not Delivered policy (thats my banks policy), and stating several points where they were breaking the Distance Selling Rules as well as their own terms and conditions.
I received a reply 4 hrs later, (though not to that msg) stating my order was cancelled and a refund would follow shortly. I will believe it when I see it.

  19. ian:

I also have a similar story, i ordered an item 24/12/06, received an order confirmation email with a delivery of 3-10 days, then according to my credit card company my card was debited on 27/12/06. I have not received any form of payment recept from them or PROTX and obviously no goods have been dispatched as my order is still open on the website. I have just emailed PROTX, the company they use to handle card paymets and see if they can get them to pull their fingers out of their useless theivin’ asses.

  20. Gregor Maccallum:

Im the same as everyone here, ordered goods 16th November, cerdit card debited same day, they have not delivered goods, csncelled my order and ignored all requests for refund. Thiefs!!

SOOOOOOO I now have a court case open against them with the help of my Trading Standards department. We will see what Mr Perry has to say about that to the Sherrif (Scotland Court)

  21. Craig:

Computerwebstore = BUNCH OF FUCK STICKS!

    http://www.COMPUTERWEBSTORE.co.uk computerwebstore review

Same old sad story - wasn’t spending too much so did’nt check ‘em before ordering 29/12/06. No product in stock, one reply (in late Feb) to all my emails, suggesting another product as won’t be getting supply - all this after I requested cancellation and refund in 1st week of Jan.
Really should be banned from business practices (’tho you can’t even call it ‘practice’).

Can anyone confirm the physical address for the company directors? Will be up for a visit next time I’m in that neck of the woods.

These guys are clearly the type who do nasty things to each others bottoms with clawless hamsters.

  22. John Martland:

Money taken from account immediately despite goods not been in stock.

Getting refund has proved an impossible task. There is no telephone number to call and they do not respond to e-mails at all.

I live close to Liverpool and would love to know the address of the person behind this Company. I’ve got something I’d like to let them have.

    Avoid at all cost.

  23. John Martland:

    Update:

I sent an e-mail to them telling them that I had obtained the following information from the Internet:

HOWARD STEVEN PERRY Owner formerly HSP Global
    356 WATERLOO QUAY
    WATERLOO ROAD
    LIVERPOOL
    L3 0BT
    TEL: 0151 227 9278

    ANTHONY EDWARD PERRY Partner
    16 OVERCHURCH ROAD
    WIRRAL MERSEYSIDE
    CH49 4LR

I told them I was going to Watchdog, Trading Standards and the Police with the information and that, because I’m in Merseyside, I fully intended arriving at each address at date and time convenient to me.

I got a reply within 2 hours and a full refund within 24 hours. I can’t help but think that, after all the trouble I had had getting any kind of response up to that point, this last e-mail with the contact detail included was key.

  24. Peter G:

I’d like to say many thanks to John Martland, who included the details of this company.

I ordered an 8-way Pure AV Isolator from them, a total of over £32.

I was told I would receive it at the beginning of this week, and I haven’t received anything. They took my money the day I ordered. I have just left them a message on their answering machine, threatening Police, legal action, my bank, Consumer Direct, Trading Standards, Watchdog, several national UK paper.

  25. Greg:

Same here - took money, item out of stock, didn’t reply to email cancelling order, now I’m on the ‘threats’ and will have to see how I go. Making use of the above address via email first, then it’s ‘in person’ or TS/court.

I may link TS to this thread I feel.

  26. Rob:

took out a £230 on the 17th of jan, i have contacted them many times no reply. im goin to keep trying. really pissed me off, just hope other people read this thread before thinkin about using them.

  27. robert:

    Wish I’d seen this first!

Ordered Logitech S530 on 30/4/07 - stock position “1″. Account debited immediately.
Became suspicious when stock position didn’t change for 48 hours, nor did my order status.
Contacted them, they promised despatch on 3 separate dates - no show. Even said goods had been despatched but nothing showed for a week. Cancelled order - no reply.
Sent confirmation of cancellation by registered post, and reported company to trading standards. Visa also advised.
Under distance selling rules they have 30 days to make refund - if not received - it will be small claims court, if upheld will also award costs.

I suggest that everyone with a problem with this company reports to your local trading standards, thats they only way companies like this can be closed down. Trading Standards make things very simple, but they rely on volume of complaints to some degree.

  28. wailo:

I have the same problem as well, ordered a PC speakers on 14th of April. been charged the day after, and nothing received till today. it was saying that item is in stock, but after sendind more than 9 emails with no answer. they said that the item is out of stock and its not available in UK at all!!! I kept sending them emails asking them to cancel my order and get a refund, but no response at all! they don’t have phone number as well. so I gave up. its not a lot money, but I would advice anyone not to deal with them. and never trust PRICERUNNER or GOOGLE PRODUCT SEARCH Reviews!

  29. Ben Kelly:

We also made the mistake of ordering items with this company on the 2nd may and still have not recieved the product. I’ve now written to the 3 addressed (many thanks for supplying the home addresses) and we’ll see what happens.

Either way if you pay for something online by VISA you will be able to claim the money back without much hassle by contacting VISA.

I guess I’ll see what happens.

  30. D:

I wish I’d seen this website before I shopped at computer webstore - what a horrible experience! They took my money straight away, but then nothing happened with my order. After several attempts to contact them I got a reply to an email stating that “your order will be with you soon”.

    still waiting.

  31. Ben Kelly:

On Tuesday I sent letters to their company address and their home addresses by recorded delivery, threatening to contact the police, the office of fair trading and the watchdog if they didn’t give me an immediate refund.

Yesterday they e-mailed back telling me the goods had arrived and had been dispatched.

    This morning the goods arrived.

So there we are, threatening those crooks works. I will never use them again, I will tell all my friends and associates to avoid them. Good luck to the rest of you that were unfortunate enough to be tempted in by their prices. Obviously they really were too good to be true…

  32. orangeacid:

John, I took your advice and threatened with legal action (which I am fully prepared to take if I don’t receive my purchases) and to my surprise I received a reply promptly at 8.35 next morning. Apparently there is no business partner, but I assume that this means that you have the owners address correct.

According to the email another batch of my goods will be sent out from the next delivery which is due today or tomorrow. To quote isla, I’ll believe it when I see it, but if it does arrive then perhaps their service has improved?

  33. robert:

See above, after three failed promises to deliver, goods were cancelled - of course my CC was debited within seconds of placing the order. Clearly no stock.

Letter sent by recorded delivery. No reply

after 30 day distance selling rules advised action would be taken - acknowledgement but no refund.

    Trading standards advised.

CC made an imediate refund - in some ways sorry wont be taking small claims court, but less hassle this way. Hope Trading Standards actually does something though.

  34. Peter G:

I did receive my Pure AV Isolator a few days after threatening them.

In order to get your product, you need to complain to Protx, Mailboxes, their website provider Purple Sheep etc.

If I had not complained, I doubt I would have ever received anything.

  35. wailooo:

Item ordered on 14th of April (see above post no. 28). After contacting Protx and my Card issuer, I got a refund by post in a hand written cheque on 4th of July!!!!!!!!!! Imagine, almost 3 months to get a refund. Here is the physical address as was written in the envelope,

    CWS (Computer Web Store)
    Suite 102 Imperial Court
    Exchange Street East
    Liverpool
    L2 3AB

The name of the (….) thieve as was written in the cheque is H. S. Perry

Do never give up until you get your refund, even if it was little pounds product, this is how fraudster live, and the money they make is used for their nasty purposes, whether drugs or supporting terrorism! (lol) you can’t tell. Contact Protx, Trade Standard, Police, bank…etc.. and if possible pay them a visit and piss on their face for me and for every one been effected.

  36. Graeme:

Contact the CC company as soon as computerwebstore’s “3-10 day” delivery pledge expires without said delivery. The CC co will refund the cash and hunt these people down. They did for me, anyway.

  37. John Hooton:

This company is working the ‘numbers game’. They know that statistically, 3/10 will ‘giveup’. They take your money but send no goods. They rely on you either not complaining because it may be a small amount or giving up complaining as it becomes too much hassle.

    Firstly DON’T USE THEM.
Secondly don’t give up asking, threatening court/TS/Police etc. You will eventually get a response and eventually a refund as they wish to operate just inside the law. It took me three months and many emails.

They are blatant scamsters…. avoid like the plague.

  38. Gordon Barclay:

Having ordered something from ComputerWebstore and reading all the negative feedback i was all prepared for the worst, however to my surprise i have found them very good. The only down side is the lack of a telephone contact number, but with regards to the ordering, deleivery etc. they have been good.

Don’t let the above comments deter you from using them, and no i don’t work for them either.

  39. james thorpe:

We live and learn. After they promised to deliver within 14 days, I ordered an Ipod for my daughter.

Six eeks later and I’m still trying to get a refund.

My credit card company agrees that I am covered if they don’t pay but I’ll never buy anything again on the web without googling them first.

I didn’t know that this website existed before but I’ll use it to check every company in the future.

    Well done

  40. Benjamin Osler:

I’ve had the same sort of experience as has been repeatedly outlined on this blog.
    See http://www.computerwebstore.info for detailed information.

  41. Benjamin Osler:

RE: Comment from Mr. Barclay above

“Don’t let the above comments deter you from using them, and no i don’t work for them either.”

Mr Barclay, it is very obvious that many many people are having problems with this online retailer. What makes you think that your unusual treatment by this company should be an incentive for anyone to use them and even supposing that you are being honest about your experience, after reading what people are saying how can you possibly recommend them? If what you say is true then surely you must agree (after reading the comments left by others) that you’ve had an unusual experience.

Either you are associated in some way with the company or you simply see the world through rose tinted sunglasses.

  42. James O'shera:

    I have dealt even further!

    1) The website is 100% SCAM (google and the ISP have been contacted

    2) My friend from the IR has given me info that the business is MINUS £30k in debt

    3) He has 5 CC’js against him and another 12 waiting

    NEVER BUY FROM THESE ..

    4) Some friends from Liverpool will pay him a visit :)

    End of transmission

Hope you enjoy time inside :) stitch up your fat ARSE :)

  43. Gary:

    Another irritated customer here!

I wish I’d used by head and googled these people before placing my order.

Am pursuing a formal complaint with trading standards - anyone want to support the complaint, let me know.

what a f***ING buch of sausage jockeys! placed an order recieved nothing and heard nothing for 2 weeks. Then got an email to say that it was out of stock and they wanted more money. Tried to cancel the order but this was not allowed. Sent E mail after e mail requesting my money back and nothing. Finally got a rude e mamil back saying “want more cash” Taking it up with trading standards.

stay away from these retarded dog turds.

  46. Charlotte:

I have also had the same problem with these guys i ordered the product (hitachi Hard drive) on the 23rd of January and of course i was told the product would be here within 5 to 10 days and what a surprise no bloody product I sent them various e-mails and like everyone else got no reply! this went on for ages and the only reason i started contacting them was because there was no change on the order tracking thing but then i thought id do some digging on them and come accross all this which of course sent me through the roof since then i have gone to watchdog and consumer direct but ive not even had a reply from consumer direct. So anyway i sent yet another e-mail to thieving CW and asked to cancel the order once again no reply so i sent another one telling them not to cancel which eventually got a response and all i got was HELLO your order is live. And that was that i mean hello?? which business says hello?! so off on my rage again i e-mailed them the official letter about the distance selling regulation act and all the reply i got was HELLO can you please tell why you are cancelling!! they had no right to ask that so i went crazy once again and told them i no longer needed the product no reply came again so i really got sick of waiting i sent them an e-mail saying that trading standards were involved and that i had there addresses and a court case was pending and right this very second while im writing this i recieved this :

Hello yes your order will be cancelled and a refund processed ASAP.

    Regards Computerwebstore.

This was them finally replying to the email i sent after they asked why i wanted to cancel and they have totally ignored the emailed i sent about having the addresses and the court case. So i guess now its another waiting game and watching the bank account.

But please dont give up on these people one persons loss is another thieves gain in this case and we all obviously deserve our money more than them so keep on at them and just take it as far as need be this seems to have been going on for years so why the hell is it still happening.

Anyway sorry for the big explanation just thought id let you know my story.

Gary i will happily back you up in your complaint after the trouble they have caused me and everyone else.

  47. Charlotte:

just as i posted the last comment i actually got a reply from consumer direct as well i knew they would reply though and once agin they are happy to back all complaints against computerwebstore

  48. Charlotte:

accidentally put there e-mail adress in the website box when posting the last 2 comments thought thats what it meant so unless you really fancy giving these lovely people another visit id advise you not to click on my name lol. just thought id better explain incase you wondered why it takes you there.

  49. Charlotte:

really bloody annoyed now since they said they would cancel my order over 24 hours ago theres still no change shouldnt they have cancelled it instantly?!? they were quick enough to take the money!! surely its not rocket science to cancel an order every other company manages it instantly and im sure its not hard to put the money back in my account as quick as they took it off unfortunately if they dont have the decency to pay it back ive no hope in hell gettin it considerin i used a debit card!! next stop trading standards!

  50. Teresa:

Again, wish I had seen this first. Ordered a laptop 1st January, charged my account 2nd January. Multiple emails later finally got one from them to say no stock and offered alternative. I said no, partly because it wasn’t the spec I wanted, but mainly because I don’t trust them. Still no refund. Have just emailed them again today threatening them with Police, Trading Standards & Inland Revenue, using the contact details as above….hoping to get some sort of an answer soon. This is covered by credit card, but it’s not really the point is it? Feeling very foolish for even trusting them without checking their integrity.

  51. Charlotte:

hey teresa im having the exact sam problem at the moment they still havn’t cancelled my order ive already threatened them with trading standards police n court etc… n all they said was they would cancel the order asap and give me a refund and my order is still open. I also sent them an email sayin i had the adress and put the address in the e-mail and they just totally ignored that one.

  52. charles:

Slightly different but essentially the same “silly me- awful them” moment. (TBH I didn’t like the look of their site with its grotty testimonials sidebar but through greed and slackness I favoured them over my normal supplier for the sake of a couple of quid. Doh!). The quality, or complete lack of quality, in their customer services set me on the search I should have done beforehand and brought me here.

At least this blog will help others to avoid them.

I ordered a microSD card from them. A week or so later I get a Royal Mail Card saying Item Too Big to be delivered (”Packet” was ticked and this is what the Royal Mail say it means). The important difference is whatever it was (perhaps Charlotte’s external hard drive above who knows?) was then promptly “lost” by the Royal Mail.

This drastic failure by RM is nothing to do with CWS obviously but reading this blog really makes me wonder how a company can package a micro-sd card in such a way that it can’t get through my letterbox and that has created the situation in the first place -although the RM have done a stunning follow-up act and made the situation nigh on hopeless. I really don’t believe CWS sent me the right thing in the first place and I will half-heartedly attempt the Consumer Direct route.

I feel sorry for the person whose item it actually was as it was obvious larger and more valuable than my item.

So no more telling off of my sweetheart for being so web unsavvy - I’m the dunce in these parts.

Wouldn’t it be great if Trading Standards had a hotline to Google so ComputerWebStore could be wiped off the face of the web?

Good luck in everyone’s attempts to get what they are owed.

  53. Samantha Organ:

    Can someone help me please?
I ordered an HP Photosmart camera from ComputerWebstore on 18th October 2007. I received the camera, and duly returned it (recorded delivery) the following week since I had been given the same camera the during the time it took for the camera I ordered to arrive. It was signed for.

The only reply to several emails since then was on 13th November 2007 stating that a refund would be given shortly. Now we are in February 2008, and I still have no refund. I sent a letter almost 3 weeks ago with all the emails attached. I have had no response.

    The camera was over £200!

    Any suggestions?

  54. Steve:

Funny old thing, guess what I ordered an item on 5 Jan and still no sign of it. They were quick to reply to my email asking about the item and equally quick to reply to my first email after 2 weeks asking why it had not yet been sent. I was given the reply that the item was now in stock and being shipped that day. 10 days later still no item and surprise surprise now they are not answering my emails. I have now cancelled the order but not had any confirmation from them, As I paid by credit card I can claim the money back, however, I’d much rather have the item!!! Please for your own peace of mind….. avoid this company and save yourself much pain.

  55. charles:

My missing MicroSD did turn up — and yes it was entirely the fault of the Royal Mail (about ten times over- truly hopeless)

However I won’t be rushing to use ComputerWebStore again for the sake of a few quid. I can see exactly what they are like even with a “successful” transaction - zero customer service and low standards regarding the provison of information about themselves.

So I learnt my lesson for free. I hope everyone else gets their problems sorted soon.

Almost impossible to contact these rogues, absolute rascals!
They have broken every distant selling rule in the book. No response to emails, no notification when the item would be delivered. Order date was 25/07/2007 - it has been 8 months now! An illiterate bum answered my query e-mail on 24/03/2008 as: ‘Hello unfortunately this model of case is no longer available.Would you be interested in another model?’ What a joke!
Took them 8 months to realise this and no response to my e-mail pertaining to a refund.
This company needs to be banned.
My story is no different to the rest of the reviews.
I am surprised that their website is still up and running. I hope something is done about this before others fall prey to these thieves.

    help
i handed over 1100 on friday night for a big tv and 2 protracting wall arms.
funnily enough i think on saturday my wife came in an mentioned some things shed seen on watchdog regarding companies setting up online and then not delivering!! NOW I FEEL REALLY STUPID BY NOT READING THIS FIRST. Does anybody know if anyone has had a positive experience with this company?

  58. howler:

Just to let you know, all my equipment did show up although a week later than they originally told me. so not a perfect experience but an okay one. if they had been honest and just set my expectations at the outset that that was the date i wouldn’t have worried for a week! 7/10

AArgghh…just found this and another review site - AFTER I ordered a, luckily small, item from them. Same story - ordered on 9 March, money taken immediately, website stated ‘in stock’. Confirmation email arrived immediately stating 3 days delivery time. Needless to say, nothing arrived and my first email to them went unanswered. Second one they said it would be coming into stock soon (?) and be dispatched as soon as. Two weeks later another email from me chasing them up, threatening to cancel the order if they didn’t deliver within a week. They answered it would be in stock next week and delivered within that week. That was 15 April.

Needless to say, I still have not received the item and another email to them sent yesterday remains unanswered. I wonder if there is any point canceling, as I probably won’t get my money back anyway. Which is exactly what they’re banking on, I assume. But as the amount is under £100, I’m not covered under the consumer credit act. +sigh+

    So, just to recap:

Ordered a Sandisk Sansa from computerwebstore on Tuesday as it was £20 cheaper than anywhere else. Read these posts on Wednesday and wished I hadn’t. Item arrived on Thursday and works fine. Happy days.

    Good Luck

  62. Peter Wurm:

Ssame experience. Laser printer ordered in January 2008. Not deliverd and informed after several e-mails that the product is out of stock. Replacement product declined [obviously].

Request for refund ignored for 1 month. Several empty promises to refund today, tomorrow, next week. Two months later [end of May], after informing Consumer Direct [who in turn informed Merseyside police] finally a refund- 4 months after taking funds from my credit card.

Completely unacceptable service bordering on criminal practice.

  63. Elektra:

Purchased a mp3 player from them May ‘08 which was faulty. After emailing them telling them it was faulty i got this reply quote “Hello have you managed to sort the problem or does the item need to be replaced?” doh really inspires confidence. Anyway i tell them yes its still faulty and eventially they agree to a replacement. I return the faulty player to them recorded delievery and thats the last i have heard. Emailed them on numerous occasions asking about the replacement they offered no i have asked for my money back - no response.
Looks like im procedding down the legal path with this lot. Does anybodody know if this contact information is still relevent ?.
